Lorraine began her career in Counselling and Support in 2002 where she undertook six months of residential weekend training, provided by Alcohol Focus Scotland. She then embarked on a two year supervised practice placement providing counselling to clients and their family members who were suffering from Alcohol/Drug Abuse Issues. After gaining accreditation with AFS she continued providing advice and counselling on a voluntary basis before moving over to Private Practice in 2011.
Over the past 15 years she has continued her Professional Development gaining certificates in Life-Coaching, Nutritional Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Anger and Agression Management,Autism Spectrum Disorders, Equality and Diversity, Child Protection, and Neuro-Linguistic Programming. She studied with the Institute of Counselling to gain her Diploma in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Accredited with the University of the West of Scotland.
Lorraine and other sessional counsellors/coaches are members of the National Counselling Society, the British Association of Counsellors and Psychotherapists ,The British Association of Behavioural and Cognitive Psychotherapists or the Association for Coaching, they receive regular independent support and supervision.
All counsellors adhere to strict guidelines, rules and regulations and will always endeavour to keep client confidentiality.
Counsellors and Coaches are members of the PVG scheme (protecting vulnerable groups ), ensuring that therapists working with children and adults are thoroughly vetted and Police checked by the Scottish Government. They are certified as safe to work with vulnerable adults and children.
